Cruzin' to Cure
Nov. 17, 2016
The HARLEY’S ANGELS are CRUZIN’ TO CURE breast cancer! Harley’s Angels- Cruzin’ to Cure is a group of women motorcycle enthusiasts dedicated to promoting breast cancer awareness, research, and education and we are putting rubber to the road again in 2017! One of our primary fundraising projects is the publication of a calendar featuring the women of “Harley’s Angels”. The calendar is tastefully designed featuring the women of Harley’s Angels and our motorcycles. We are not your stereo-type “biker babes”; Harley’s Angels keep it real with real women and real bikes riding for the cause. With one out of eight women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, it is no surprise that there are also several breast cancer survivors within our group. Our first calendar was published in 2003 and after 14 successful calendar years, you are likely to find our calendars anywhere from bike shops to grandmother’s kitchen. We have donated $829,500 to two of Houston’s finest research organizations supporting Dr. Matthew Ellis, Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center and Baylor College of Medicine, and Dr. Kelly Hunt, Chief, Breast Surgical Oncology Section, Department of Surgical Oncology, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Harley’s Angels Cruzin’ to Cure, is a Texas non-profit, 501(c)3, and an allvolunteer organization. As we launch our 2017 fundraising year with a beautiful new calendar, you can join in the crusade with your minimum donation of $15 in the fight against breast cancer and receive our personalized calendar as our gift. We also collaborate with breast cancer organizations, corporate employee giving initiatives, and we would love to partner with you! |

Dec. 01, 2016 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Hey, all: It's Holiday time and so Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. Due to the very large response to our Holiday Party at Flemings, we will not be able to do the WHITE ELEPHANT EXCHANGE THERE SO WE ARE GOING TO KEEP THE TRADITION AND DO IT THIS THURSDAY AT THE OUR PRE-HOLIDAY PARTY. So get that useless gift out off that attic that Aunt Betty gave you, Those pocket fishmans, that useless toaster, or that ugly sweater and bring it for a white elephant gift exchange. If you elect to purchase a new gift, the suggested limit is $10. Also, if you bring one gift for you and your guest, then you will have one draw. If both you and your guests bring a gift, then you will each have a draw. Don't forget the traditional chili pepper lights and the Christmas story lights. If you have these and can't make it, please have a friend re-gift them for you this year. For our new Rotarians, you are in for a lot of fun and we hope you get one of our traditional annual gag white elephant gifts. The tradition you have to hold them for the year and re-gift them next year! Sign up for the white elephant is not required. Also, sign up for this event is not required but will be appreciated. We will have some food but this will be a very casual evening. I added this to Patty's wonderful note for more clarification..........Nick Our pre party at No Label Brewing, 6-8PM, come on out and enjoy some great beer along with better fellowship with your friends, bring your significant other, would be great to get to know him/her! |

This is a great opportunity to hear our RIP (Rotary International President) address our district as well as mix and mingle with fellow Rotarians from our District. We have reserved 20 spots (2 tables) for our club. The first to sign up will get those seats. If it fills fast, we will discuss additional seating. Since our Holiday Party is a sell out, I think these 20 seats will sell out. Your cost is $58.90 per seat. Also, with our reservation of 2 tables, our club is entitled to 2 exposition tables. We can show anything we like. I think it would be nice to have one showing how our club is serving humanity, the theme for this Rotary year, and the second table to promote our fund raisers and sell tickets. If you would like to volunteer to handle the exposition, please let me or David Loesch know. I'm sure you will get plenty of help. Don't think because you are new to the club, you can't do this. This is a perfect opportunity to learn what we are doing and get involved. Here are the details of the dinner.
