It was a great day for Paint USA at Bryant Elementary School! Another Katy ISD school has map of the USA on the playground for the students to enjoy! Great job by Paint USA Chair Bryan McDonough and many Katy Rotarians who came out today and made this possible!

Being named the #1 Brewfest in the country by BeerYeti.com takes on a whole new meaning when you see the impact that the event has on our communities.
On August 18th 2016, several thousand dollars were given away as a direct result from the 5th annual Wild West Brewfest held in Katy at Katy Mills Mall.
Boasting over 500 beers and over 130 brewers and attendees representing 19 states and 3 foreign countries this brewfest has a life of its own.
• KISD Special Rodeo $2000 - helping special needs children by putting on a rodeo with face painters, animals, clowns and a catered lunch
• KISD Fine Arts $15000 - assisting the youth of Texas in buying band and orchestra instruments for those less fortunate in able to participate in an activity whereas they otherwise would of not had that chance
• Katy Christian Ministries $5500 - assisting in helping young students with study classes after school and providing the basic essentials such as backpacks and paper.
• KISD Career Technical Center $3000 - helping our young leaders attend conferences that teach and instruct how to become tomorrows leaders
• KISD FFA $21000 - helping young students participate in projects whereas they would of not had the eans to do
• Fort Bend Charities $3000 - providing art scholarships to young students
What a great Thursday meeting this past week, times like that spark a renewed understanding of why we work hard at what we do, supporting those young students is what we do! Great job to all that helped out on that task, remember that our Triathlon is coming up and it is because of that long standing event in our community we are able to give back to the youth of Texas similar to what you say on Thursday. 
What a year this has been and recognizing our members for their valuable cooperation is a must. Working as a team is what we do best and this year's leadership team was amazing!

It is hard to believe that my first month as President of the Club has already come to a close! I guess time really does fly when you are having fun and I am truly excited about the things we have already accomplished and the things we have planned for this year!
Our accomplishments in the first month are many. We have had many members step up and ask to be part of our membership, communications, new generations, finance, Social and foundation committees and each of those committees has started planning for how to exceed our goals for 2017/2018. For those of you who are on a committee already, thank you for going the extra mile. If you aren’t on a committee already but want to be, just let me know and we will get you plugged into one.
We also have many things coming up in the next month or two. The first of those is our Club Social and Fundraiser, “FLIGHTS & BITES” which is scheduled for Saturday, October 14th at Flemings Prime Steakhouse at Town & Country. Also coming up is the District 5890 Zone All Club Luncheon on Friday September 15th. The board has approved an “Embracing the Future” sponsorship that includes a table for 10 at the event as well as two tables at the Zone Expo which will be used to promote our club and WWBF 2018. The 10 seats at the table are available on a first come basis at a member cost of $25. If there is enough demand we will consider adding additional tables. At the upcoming August board meeting, the club board will be reviewing the “club ideas” for our first round of 2017/2018 charitable grants. The deadline for submitting ideas to be considered is August 15th and the grant request form is available for download on the club runner website.
We are also working on improving our capture of club attendance at events and meetings, as well as updating club runner with the complete details for all members of the club. Please take some time to get familiar with the club runner calendar of events and take a few minutes to complete and/or update your profile. Many members have not yet uploaded a photo to club runner, or added birthday, spouse, or other profile information that will help newer club members get to know you and put a face with a name. Also make sure to check your name off as in attendance at each club meeting. The checklist will be next to the name tag box each week and it helps Suzanne to accurately capture and record attendance.
Finally, it is going to be a great month to bring a guest to Rotary. The number one reason that people visit a Rotary Club. . . . . . . someone they know invites them to come! We have a great lineup of speakers for this month with Wayne Staton talking about Rotary Foundation on 8/3, Sheriff Troy Nehls on 8/10, Christ Clinic visiting on 8/17, Lance LaCour providing an economic update on 8/24, and Pam Filip talking about Katy YMCA on 8/31. What a great month to introduce someone you know or meet to Rotary!
